Where will The Kingfisher Discovery Center be Built?

The Discovery Center was originally planned to be built at the Kingfisher Pond Recreation Area.  After a detailed review of current resources and accessibility, the decision was made in early 2016 to built it instead adjacent to the current Visitor Center located on the Savannah NWR right off US Highway 17 about half-way between Savannah and Hardeeville, and easily accessible to Savannah, Port Wentworth, Bluffton, and Hardeeville.

The Center will be connected to the Visitor Center by a small bridge and will be connected to a series of nature trails, giving participants in programs at the Center easy access to hardwood forest, marsh habitat, and the Visitor Center.
