Mark May 4th 2019 on your calendars and plan to attend our annual membership meeting! This year we will meet at the Savannah NWR Visitor Center at noon for the business portion of the meeting. This will include election of members to fill open seats on our Board of Directors, a talk from Project Leader Holly Gaboriault about the status of hurricane damage repair and refuge enhancement to prevent future damage, and a summary of Friends activities since last meeting given by Friends President Rick Shields.
We will then take interested guests on a brief walking tour of the Kingfisher Discovery Center adjacent to the Visitor Center. We had hoped to have the annual meeting in the Discovery Center, but it won't be quite ready by the 4th. (Watch for news about the Grand Opening in the next two months!).
We then return to the VC for a presentation by FWS Biologist Wayne Harris on "Native Landscaping for the Birds and the Bees". Wayne will discuss the advantages of using native plants in your landscaping plan to attract wildlife to your property. Just in time for spring planting!
The meeting, tour, and presentation is free and open to the public, although you must be a member in good standing of the Friends to vote. You may join or renew your membership at the meeting.
No reservations are required. Light refreshments will be served.
