  • Wassaw Island NWR

This is our annual Friends group field trip as part of Refuge Week.  We will depart from Delegal Creek Marina at The Landings on Skidaway Island at 8:30 AM for the short boat ride to the FWS dock on Wassaw Island NWR.  Planned activities include beach ecology hikes, bird banding demonstrations, bird observation hikes, and a photography workshop, or head out on a self-guided tour of this amazing barrier island.  Just don't miss the boat back home!
Be sure to catch the presentation by Joe Wiegand, our favorite Teddy Roosevelt re-enactor!
We plan to be back at the dock by around 4:30 PM.

Boat seating is limited, as are slots for the various activities, so advance registration is required.  There is no charge for the boat or the activities.
Register by calling call 843-784-2468 from 9AM through 4 PM.  You must be at least eight years old to sail with us.

You are encouraged to bring a bag lunch, drinks will be provided.
Many thanks to the University of Georgia's Marine Extension service for their assistance.

Please consider donating to the Friends!
