  • Sunday, October 14, 2012
  • 8:30 AM
  • Millstone Landing
Once again this year in support of National Wildlife Refuge Week, the Swampgirls Paddle Club will lead two kayak tours of the Savannah River and donate the proceeds to the Friends group.  Both tours will be led by Friends group Board of Directors member Linda Etchells and friends.

This second tour is aimed at more experienced kayakers.  You can bring your own craft, loaners are available but in limited supply.  Linda suggests a minimum $15 donation if you bring you own kayak, $45 if you use one of hers.  Cash or checks only please.  Here is the description:

This trip is for more experienced kayakers, It is a 12 mile paddle contending with tide and current and should take about 4 hours.  Participants will meet at 8:30 AM on Sunday, October 14th, at Millstone Landing  in Hardeeville, SC, then paddle down the Savannah River along the Refuge enjoying the wild beauty of the area, with fall colors, and wildlife, until hauling out at at Hoolihan Turnbridge Landing just above the Port of Savannah. There is only one opportunity to get out along the way, so bring snacks and water.  Participants will then be shuttled back to Millstone Landing.

Reservations are required, and can be made by calling Linda at 843-784-2249 or by email at swampchicks@aol.com.

Please consider donating to the Friends!
