Webb Wildlife Center Bird Walk

  • Sunday, April 28, 2013
  • 7:00 AM
  • Webb Wildlife Center, Garnett, SC
Webb Wildlife Center has one of the best stands of long-leaf pine/wire grass in our area.  At this time of year it’s pretty easy to locate two rare and very sought-after species that prefer that habitat: red-cockaded woodpecker and Bachman’s sparrow.

Expert birder and trip leader Steve Wagner will lead the search for these species and a host of others including grosbeaks, warblers, buntings, cuckoos, swallow-tailed kites, and nesting little blue herons.

Meet Steve to car pool at 7:00 a.m. at the entrance to Laurel Hill Wildlife Drive at Savannah NWR or meet the group at 8:00 a.m. at the entrance to Webb.

Bring binoculars, sun and insect protection, water and a sack lunch.  Closed toe shoes are recommended.

For more information, contact Steve at sjwgnr@hotmail.com or 912-655-0797.
