The Friends are very fortunate to have Sam Koltinsky come to town.  Sam is a documentary film producer currently working on a series of films about the Heroes of Conservation in the US.

Sam will be introducing the first local showing of his award-winning film "America's Darling - The Story of Jay N. 'Ding' Darling"", a documentary on the life and work of Jay N. "Ding" Darling.  Sam will share with us his collection of Darling memorabilia and be available for questions.  Copies of the DVD will be available for sale.
Darling was a conservationist and a Pulitzer Prize winning cartoonist who served as head of the US Biological Survey (the forerunner of FWS).  He also conceived of the idea of the Federal Duck Stamp program and drew the very first Duck Stamp issued.  He also drew the now iconic "Blue Goose". the official symbol of the National Wildlife Refuge System.  He has a very popular NWR in Florida named for him.

There is no charge for the showing, but seating is limited, so please register to save your seat.

The film will be screened at 7 PM at the Palmetto Electric Coop in Hardeeville.
