Here is a list of other places to visit within 100 miles of Savannah NWR.

  Reptiles and Amphibians

"The Joy of Snakes" is a video produced by Georgia Public Broadcasting highlighting our reptilian resources. It's narrated by Georgia naturalist Dick Flood (AKA Okefenokee Joe). It's about 58 minutes long.

The Savannah River Ecology lab herpetology section has lots of info about the reptiles and amphibians that inhabit SC and GA

  Georgia Outdoors

"This Land is Your Land" is an episode of GPB's Georgia Outdoors series that highlights publicly owned land in the Peach State. Look for some familiar faces in the section covering the NWR's. About 27 minutes.

"Georgia's Marshes" is another Georgia Outdoors production focusing on the amazing salt-marsh environment of our area. About 27 minutes.

See a slide show of local birds photographed by Diana Churchill in the Savannah Morning News.

The Cornell Lab of Ornithology has extensive on-line resources for birders.

The Island Packet out of Hilton Head Island  has developed an on-line birding guide to the best bird-watching spots in the low country.  The list includes Pinckney Island NWR and Savannah NWR.  Thanks to Friends members Susan and Kelly Murphy for the heads up about this resource.

  Invasive Species

The Georgia Invasive Species Task Force enumerates the biggest threats in GA from invasives and what you can do to help combat them.

SC DNR hosts a similar site focusing on aquatic invasives.

Georgia DNR maintains a website set up to help folks find out where and how to fish in Georgia.
